4th Travelogue of our little China tour - Guangzhou

After Beijing, we went by plane to Guangzhou. We landed at the Baiyun Airport, but had the bad luck that the last shuttle bus had already left and we had to take two taxis to the hotel. This trip, we will not soon forget, at least we were fast in the hotel and to still alive ;-) These taxis it is said to hold on and not surprised. The next day we did a little Strolls made, that's so not necessarily go as in Shanghai or Beijing. While there is much to see but new one has to switch off sometimes a little bit. The most pleasant, as always, was the weather. In October in Guangzhou, it is still really warm and the hibiscus hedges are in full bloom. It was manufactured at a roundabout in the overturned truck, the traffic here is quite strong because the container port in the Pearl River in the area and there is a lot of goods are handled.

Then we came to after about 45 minutes by bus in the "almost" the center of Guangzhou. There, as there was always lively pedestrian traffic, typical of the weekend but also in the week there is a lot going on. At each corner is built and hammered, after all, do the city fathers of Guangzhou in 2010 to dig the Asian Games or 5 subway lines through the ground. There is still much to do, but in the Rate of Construction is to create loose.

Because we were just in the area, we were also still the same to the Pearl River, on the one evening a boat ride on the front lights of the skyscrapers and streets over. There we could then all the illuminated bridges and facades of the houses look, which showed in some cases even small films that were shown by light bars. But unfortunately there are since no clever photo.

the evening, the hotel has a surprise waiting on the pillow. The room service was placed next to a fruit basket and fresh flowers, even stuffed animals and chocolate on the pillow, something like this makes it just from a good hotel ;-), Hello Kitty for Women and the barkers (barks when you press the on the stomach) for the Men ...

The next day was dedicated to the family. A "small" family reunion, that is lunch with a small part of the family was the highlight of the day be. Thus, all met for dinner together in the restaurant and was also drunk.

After lunch we visited some family members in Dong Guan, a Nachbarsadt Guangzhou. There are all living in the rural environment, thus shown from the houses. Built close together and in typical Chinese style, next to the banana plantation.

The next day we went by bus to Shenzhen in order to cross the border into Hong Kong. Shenzhen is a relatively new and modern city, the neighboring Hong Kong and has had considerable influence. The border control is as if one leaves the country, we need the Chinese passport and a travel document to come to Hong Kong into it. But in Shenzhen there are new and old buildings. Here is an old with the unmistakeable style of the facade and the other image with modern skyscrapers. Sun joins old and new together, making China into what it is, a interesantes country where you can safely discover in 20 years, is still new.

That was the report from our third Destination in China, Guangzhou. The Hong Kong report will certainly come in 2 more parts, for there is much to report again.

Bye and good Sunday,
Lumi

third Travelogue of our little China tour - The Forbidden City

'll continue with the trip report at the next early morning, Target was the forbidden city, until the revolution in 1911, the Chinese emperors ruled the Ming and Qing dynasties and ordinary people of access was denied, which earned the name Forbidden City (at this link you can also more details about the Forbidden City to read what would lead us too far). The journey, or the short trip (we had to run almost) went to the Forbidden City. We first met at the newspaper vendor, typical course by bike. Then it was time, the first units of the banned City were visible. It was the moat, 6 m deep and 52 m wide, which should of course protect the city from uninvited guests. Water was the best protection against intruders, because, although, many Kung Fu masters run up the walls, but few could walk on water. Please click to zoom back to the images.

Now the first walls were visible, highly impressive and quite smooth, so hard to climb if you want to come inside there uninvited. Our double time vorran always Tony, our group leader, lost the yellow flag, so we always stayed together nicely and no went. divided

Then we came in first place in the interior of the Forbidden City, into separate ranges. Here you can compare the height of the 10-foot wall once directly in humans. Due to such high goals it went on into the interior and priority always the racing guide Tony.

Then we were on this huge space. Even the tourists can see there, quite small, as the Emperor would surely have had enough room. Of course, part of a real emperor (in the 491 years they were ruled 24 emperors) also a throne. There, then, important ceremonies, such as coronations, weddings and promotions held by officials.

This relief consists of a single slab of marble and is about 16.5 m long, 3 m wide, 1.5 m thick and weighs 250 tons. This slab of marble was brought in during the winter 1406-1420 (completion of the Forbidden City) on a custom made ice rink of about 20,000 workers in 28 days from 50 miles away. The elaborate stonework shows typical Chinese images such as dragons, lions and all sorts of other mythical creatures. Of course, such an important object, such as the Forbidden City are also guarded. Jagged Soldiers take turns and there is also a kind of "guard" for us tourists, but we have unfortunately missed.

a final look at the backdrop of the Forbidden City, the tourists and the truly impressive passages and this part of the cultural conversation was already over. Frankly, so powerful, artistic and unique as it may be, was the time to visit then went up with enough ;-)

Continue straight after the Temple of Heaven (Temple of Heaven), but that is another story, until then I wish you much fun with the pictures and additional information about the Forbidden City.

Bye remains curious and beautiful,
Lutz

second Travelogue of our little China Tour - Beijing & Great Wall

So, here is the second trip report from our small China tour. This report brings genuine directly to Peking (Beijing) and the Great Wall. The flight from Shanghai to Beijing was an A320 of China Southern Airlines. After arriving in Beijing, it was once the hotel and then near the hotel on tour and shopping. Please click to zoom back to the images.

The next day we booked a tour with a tour group to the Ming Tombs (Ming Tombs). Past we took the bus at the construction site from the "Bird's Nest", so the new Olympic stadium, called by the Chinese. So this group trips remain cheap, they are of course also linked to advertising displays. Why should it be any different in China than in Germany. Only here you will not looked bad, if you buy anything ;-) Our tour of the company went into a Jadefabrik, there were all the beautiful jewelry that can be made of jade.

In Jadefabrik the paintings were offered. Here is an employee just painted the inside of a glass ball, a very tricky Matter. The other image is a map of the area, which houses the Ming Tombs . There, 13 of the 16 emperors are buried, which prevailed in the Ming Dynasty.

After we said goodbye to the dead emperors went on the trip to the most famous building in the history of mankind. I do not mean the Berlin TV tower, no, I mean the Great Wall of China . The first image of the Great Wall I made from the bus, then follow the same, but there I would do without the specific and only show the pictures. The approximately 6000km (figures vary) long Chinese Great Wall on the volume seen the largest building in the world and has over 2000 years of history exhibit. One can hardly bescheiben the impression when you are on the wall and follows the course of time. To the horizon and beyond (this is not subliminal advertising for the movie Toy Story * grin *) you can see them on the ridge of mountains along winding.

Here are some pictures of the great Chinese wall. On 1 December 2006 entry into China, a law into force, the destruction of the wall by eg light or power poles, restaurants, and all for souvenirs other damage is under heavy penalties. Quiet little too late, because only about 20% of the entire Great Wall of China are still in good condition, 30% are ruins and the remaining 50% almost completely disappeared. To get on the wall out, was "modern" technology (a type of summer toboggan (bob) ground) is applied, the rise was at least short and not so stressful. Once at the top then this view was waiting for us ....

went down there again with the bobsled run, we could in time reach the bus back to the hotel. In the evening we treated ourselves to be at the request of a single person to eat Peking duck, of course, in Beijing ;-) The picture shows the starter until we got served the roast duck.

was unable According to the fried fowl and carved at your table and served the meat. The remains were then into manageable pieces hacked also served, and so hate the day a worthy finale.

The next trip takes us to the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven ind the Summer Palace. But to this report You must wait a little monk, I try as quickly as possible to write and sort the images.
bye and wishes you all a good Sunday Lumi from Shanghai.
